      Race Marshals Training

      Scottish Motor Racing Club

      This training day, organised by the Scottish Motor Racing Club, is suitable for both new and experienced race marshals and will involve both classroom and practical workshops.

      For newcomers, it is an opportunity to get an induction into race marshalling with the Scottish Motor Racing Club, whilst more experienced marshals will have the opportunity to refresh their knowledge on a variety of subjects and/or learn about new topics.

      Attendance counts toward grade maintenance or upgrade requirements for Motorsport UK licence holders.

      First Marshal on Scene and Fire Theory

      What you do in the few minutes immediately after an incident - where control is being informed, the race or rally is being slowed/stopped, and safety services are being mobilised - can mean the difference between life and death. This session is about the immediate interventions that you can usefully and safely do until more help arrives.

      This is a Motorsport UK module and counts toward grade maintenance or upgrade requirements for Motorsport UK licence holders. It is suitable for beginners and for anyone wanting a refresher.

      This online session will be supplemented with practical first aid and firefighting training later in the year.

      Managing traumatic pain in a pre-hospital environment

      This is one of our bi-monthly webinars aimed specifically at Medical, Rescue and Recovery personnel involved in a first response role at incidents.       Introduction to Radio

      The successful running of various motorsport events relies on safe and efficient communications. This session looks at the chain of communications on a rally, focusing particularly on the Stage Operators - Start Radio, In Stage Radios and the Finish Radio.

      This is a Motorsport UK module and counts toward grade maintenance or upgrade requirements for Motorsport UK licence holders. It is suitable for beginners and for anyone wanting a refresher.

      Introduction to Timing

      Timing is fundamental to most motorsport events for the determination of winners and provides information for competitors, spectators, and the media alike. Very few events do not have some element of timing within them. This session looks at the basics of timing and why the role is required.

      This is a Motorsport UK module and counts toward grade maintenance or upgrade requirements for Motorsport UK licence holders. It is suitable for beginners and for anyone wanting a refresher.

      In conversation with Dr Paul Trafford

      As well as chairing Motorsport UK’s Medical Committee, “Traff” also represents the UK at the FIA Medical Commission and is Medical Director for TOCA / British Touring Car Championship.

      Dr Trafford is an experienced and respected clinician with many years of involvement in motorsport and he is committed to improving quality and standards so that motorsport in the UK has the very highest level of safety, rescue, and recovery.

      This is a great opportunity to hear about upcoming developments and to ask questions about medical and rescue issues in motorsport.

      Motorsport has many disciplines, all with slightly different rules, regulations and things that marshals need to be aware of for the event to run safely. Sprints and hill climbs, or ‘Speed Events’ as we know them, involve competitors driving as fast as they like around tracks or up hills. This online session looks at what marshals need to be aware of in this particular discipline.

      Scottish Motorsport Safety Services Training Weekend

      This event brings together Doctors, Paramedics, Rescue Teams and Recovery Operators for two full days of intensive specialist training. There will be a mix of workshops, practical skill stations, and simulations throughout the weekend. Assessments for both Rescue and Recovery licence holders will be available on Sunday.
